The Mother Of A Transgender Son

Words cannot express how grateful we are to Dr. Keegan and the entire IRMS staff!

As the mother of a transgender son in need of egg harvesting, it was important to me that he not only receive expert care, but that he also be treated with compassion, kindness, and the respect that he deserves. I made several calls to other fertility centers and interviewed many other doctors before finding Dr. Keegan and her wonderful staff. Once I had the pleasure of meeting with Dr. Keegan in person, I knew I had found the right doctor for my son. She connected with me immediately and understood all of my concerns. She took the time to talk with my son, answered all of his questions thoroughly, and always made him feel at ease. Dr. Keegan was with us every step of the way, and even went the extra mile to ensure that the staff at the surgical center was prepared to understand and meet his unique needs as well.

Guiding a teenager through transition can be a daunting and sometimes scary experience. While much of this on-going process has been challenging for us, Dr. Keegan made sure that this part of the process at least, was not. Like any mother, I instinctively want to protect my son and ensure that he is getting the best care possible. IRMS made sure that everything, from start to finish, was taken care of with the utmost professionalism, expertise, and compassion.

I would recommend Dr. Keegan to anyone. She and her thoughtful staff are truly the best of the best. I can honestly say that we have never received better care anywhere!

“Thank you IRMS for the life you have created and the family you have given to us. As a same sex couple trying to conceive, our first exposure to the fertility world was beyond amazing! We felt very comfortable and accepted as we learned about the options for us.”

After patiently counting down our two-week wait, the best day for us was the phone call from an IRMS staff member letting us know that we were pregnant!!! It was one of the happiest days of our lives, next to getting married.

The saddest day for us was when we “graduated” from our final appointment, because we knew that we were moving onto our OB/GYN for the remainder of our pregnancy. We wanted to take the staff with us through the remainder of our journey because we had built such a wonderful relationship with everyone in the office.

A special thank you to Dr. Keegan who consulted with my partner and I to discuss the route we would be taking to start our family. Danielle McNulty who always answered my many questions/phone calls so promptly. Lastly, Dr. Thompson who performed our IUI procedure.

My partner and I welcomed a healthy baby girl into the world on March 31, 2015. Our daughter Gianna has blessed us in many ways and shows us the true meaning of being a parent. Words cannot say enough for what everyone did for us.
