Our own Dr. Stephanie Marshall Thompson had the privilege to attend the Odyssey Media Business Retreat as a guest speaker.
The retreat has been in place for 17 years and is an invitation and referral only networking and career development experience.
Dr. Thompson was featured on a panel named “Hindsight is 20/20: A letter to our future selves” sponsored by Johnson and Johnson along with Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice, Dean of the Morehouse School of Medicine and Dr. Linda Bradley, a GYN surgeon from the Cleveland Clinic.
The session was moderated by the TODAY show weekend anchor, Shenielle Jones. As a panel they addressed how many minority women are being left behind in terms of issues with their reproductive health and access to care. They covered a lot of ground- from the prevalence of fibroids in women of color and subsequent impact on their reproductive ability to fertility preservation options with egg freezing. Her panel met with members of an engaged and fascinated audience representing corporations such as Intel, Scholastic, RWJBarnabasHealth, Walmart, AT&T & Mars.
Dr. Thompson even had the honor of sharing a table with Mae Jameson, the first black female astronaut whose autograph was in her childhood autograph book!
